Affiliate & Sponsorship Disclosure
Last updated: August 23, 2026
The short version
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and sign up or buy something, we may earn a commission — at no extra cost to you. This is how we keep every guide and scam alert free.
What this means in practice
- Free tools stay free. We only feature tools with genuinely useful free tiers. A commission never changes our verdict on whether a tool is worth your time.
- You pay nothing extra. Affiliate links cost you the same (or less, when they carry discounts) as going to the site directly.
- Rankings are not for sale. Tools are listed by usefulness, not by commission size. Many of the tools we recommend pay us nothing at all.
- Partner links are labeled. Links that may earn a commission are marked with a "Partner" badge and use
rel="sponsored", as the FTC requires.
Other ways this site earns
- Services. Paid 1-on-1 AI sessions, small-business setups, and workshops (see Work With Me). This is currently our main income from the site.
- Affiliate commissions. Described above. As of August 2026 these are new and modest; we will update this page if that changes materially.
- We do not sell ads, we do not sell your data, and the newsletter collects only an email address you volunteer.
Editorial independence
If a tool becomes bad, unsafe, or scammy, we remove it and say so — even if it pays us. Our reputation is worth more than any single commission, and our whole mission is protecting regular people from exactly the kind of misleading endorsements we refuse to write.
