AI that's actually helpful every day

This guide skips hype and covers three things that genuinely make life easier: reminders, translations, and talking to family. Large steps, small words.

#1

Reminders you can just talk to

On an iPhone: press and hold the side button until Siri appears, then say "Remind me to take my pills at 8 AM every day." That's it — the phone asks permission once and remembers forever.

On Android: say "Hey Google, remind me…" the same way. No typing required for any of it.

#2

Translate any letter instantly

On iPhone: open the Camera app → tap "Translate" mode (or use the free Google Translate app — tap the camera icon). On Android: Google Translate is built in — open it, tap the camera icon. Point at the letter, prescription label, or utility bill, and the translation appears right on top of the text — like magic glasses.

This is also wonderful for menus, medicine instructions, and official mail. Nothing is saved to your photos unless you choose to. On iPhone, the same trick works in Photos: open a picture of a letter, then tap the text-scan icon to translate what's written.

#3

Video calls without the fumbling

On Android: say "Hey Google, video call Maria." On iPhone: say "Hey Siri, FaceTime Maria" — no finding apps, no dialing.

If your family uses WhatsApp instead: on iPhone, ask Siri to "open WhatsApp" first, then tap the call. Or set up a FaceTime link once with a grandchild and save it as a favorite — one tap starts the call. Practice together once and you'll never fumble again.

One safety habit

Voice assistants will happily read emails aloud, including scam ones. Rule of thumb: if a message says you owe money, won something, or must act today — hang up or delete, then check with family before touching anything. See our scam guide; the 60-second check stops nearly all of them.
